This policy covers The Studio by Han Khim (studio.hankhim.com), a free filmmaking course and creative community operated by Han Studios. It explains what we collect when you apply, join, and participate — and how to control it.
What data we collect
Depending on how you use the Studio, we collect:
- Application data — your name, email address, current experience level, what you want to make, and any social/portfolio links you choose to share.
- Account data — your access credentials, login timestamps, and session activity.
- Telegram identity — once you connect Telegram, your Telegram user ID and username, so we can grant you community access and deliver invitations.
- Course activity — module and lesson progress, workbook entries, and submissions (including your final film, reflections, and any feedback you post).
- Support and community messages — anything you send us directly for help, or post inside the community space.
- Technical data — IP address, browser/device information, and basic request logs, kept for security and abuse prevention.
Why we collect it
We use this data to:
- review and decide on applications;
- create and manage your account and course access;
- deliver your login credentials, course content, and community invitation;
- run the community space and respond to support requests;
- protect the Studio against abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access;
- understand, in aggregate, how the course is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your application or course data to run ads targeted at you.
Who processes your data
We use a small set of trusted service providers ("processors") to run the Studio. Each only receives the data it needs to perform its function:
- Airtable — stores application, account, and progress records.
- Cloudflare — hosts the site, our application logic (Workers/Pages), video delivery (Stream), and file storage (R2/KV); also provides security and abuse protection (e.g. Turnstile, rate limiting).
- Telegram — powers the community space and delivers founding-program access details and invitations to the account you connect after applying. Telegram's own privacy terms govern data you share inside Telegram itself.
We do not permit these processors to use your data for their own purposes outside of running the Studio on our behalf.
How long we keep it
- Applications are kept for the review period and the length of the cohort they apply to, then archived for a limited period for record-keeping and anti-abuse purposes.
- Account and course data are kept while your access is active, and for a limited period afterward so you can request reactivation or export.
- Security and abuse logs are kept only as long as needed to protect the platform.
We delete or anonymize data once it is no longer needed for these purposes, unless we are required to keep it longer by law.
Access and deletion requests
You do not need to message Han personally to exercise these rights. Email Loading Studio staff contact… with the email address on your Studio account and tell us what you'd like: a copy of your data, a correction, or full deletion. Studio staff — not Han — handle these requests, and we'll confirm completion in writing.
We aim to respond to access and deletion requests within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your course progress, application record, and personal data from active systems, except where we're required to retain limited records for legal, security, or anti-fraud reasons.
International processing
Han Studios is based in Cambodia. The service providers listed above operate infrastructure in multiple countries, which means your data may be processed or stored outside the country you applied from. By applying to and using the Studio, you consent to this transfer, which is necessary to provide the service.
Consent boundaries
The Studio separates distinct consents so agreeing to one never quietly opts you into another:
- Course access is separate from marketing email. Applying to and joining the course does not automatically subscribe you to marketing or promotional email — that is a separate, optional opt-in.
- Public reuse of your name, film, or likeness requires explicit opt-in. We will never publish your final film, a testimonial, or your image publicly (on our site, social media, or marketing) without asking first and getting your clear, separate yes.
- Community participation is visible to other members. Joining the Telegram community makes your Telegram profile — name, username, and profile photo if you have one set — visible to other members of the community. Anything you post in the community is visible to the group.
